Since Oct. 24, 2025, movie theaters have been packed with people watching the new movie, “Regretting You,” starring famous actors like Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, Dave Franco, and Allison Williams. Directed by Josh Boone, the movie is based on the novel by Colleen Hoover, which follows a mother, Morgan, and her daughter, Clara, whose relationship is torn apart after a car crash reveals a shocking family secret. Morgan’s husband and sister were having an affair! This shocked many RHS students and made them love the movie even more.
One RHS student, Addi Coryell, a junior at RHS, found this to be the “most surprising part of the movie.” She goes into detail, explaining how “because I didn’t read the book, I went into this movie expecting a cute romcom, but when the truth was revealed, I realized I was in for something much deeper. I was definitely hooked!” Although it’s considered a romance movie, there are a lot of twists and turns, making it a dramatic film as well. Themes like family conflict, betrayal, and grief help add to the dramatic element. Carol Brust Arima, a senior at RHS, also loved this movie. However, she had a small suggestion-she would have liked the movie to show Clara, the daughter, having a bigger reaction to the cheating scandal. She explains how “I feel like her response didn’t help showcase how serious it was and she didn’t seem to care very much.” This helped add to her opinion on Clara, making Jonah her favorite character because he “did everything right and was unproblematic.”
Besides finding the movie shocking, both Coryell and Arima share their favorite parts of the movie as well. Coryell enjoyed the scene where “Miller asked Clara to be his girlfriend because I find them as a couple super cute.” She goes further explaining how much she loved their relationship and wishes the movie had would’ve shown not only the promposal, but also them at prom. While Coryell was more focused on Miller and Clara’s relationship, Arima loved every scene involving Jonah and Morgan, especially when they “admitted they liked each other because it allowed them to finally put themselves first and be happy.” She also found that by adding flashbacks throughout the movie, it helped “show how characters, like Jonah and Morgan, stayed the same and changed. Not only that, but it gave the viewers a better understanding of how their relationship came to be.”
Both Coryell and Arima agree that the plot and ending were “perfect” and would definitely consider the movie a must- watch and would go see it again!
