With a regular season ending record of 5-4, the 2025 Varsity Football Team showed great improvement throughout the season’s progression. Senior Linebacker, Jack Pokorny, believes that they most improved by “focusing a lot more on team chemistry this year. I feel like it’s rare that a team really feels like a family but we did and I think it helped us a lot.” As for Senior Lineman, Yanis Moulaoui, he believes “our passing game significantly improved as our passes became more concise.”
When asked about the biggest difficulties the team faced this season, Pokorny claimed “We struggled with injuries and sickness but that’s a part of the game. Guys stepped up around the team and it helped us keep moving.” While Pokorny focused on the team itself, Moulaoui discussed the difficulties on the field. “We struggled the most with running the ball and finishing drives.”
Despite aforementioned difficulties, The Falcons still managed to pull out impressive wins. To start off the season right, Rochester beat Fraser 34-0. The boys destroyed Monroe 42-6 and Royal Oak 41-0 and finished 23-21 in a nail-biting game against Lake Orion. According to both Pokorny and Moulaoui, the team’s biggest strength was their defense. Pokorny states, “The team’s greatest strength was how we played together, playing on defense was great because we had a group identity running to the ball and being good tacklers and it helped us win games.”
As for next season, Seniors are hopeful for current Juniors that made their impacts on the team. “We had a lot of juniors that contributed this year and they’ll be even better next year. Callen Seiber made a big impact before he was unfortunately out due to injury, and Marcus Aidem will continue to be one of the best defensive linemen in the league.” States Pokorny, both he and Moulaoui agreeing that “Nate Tandy helped a lot by adding dimension as a receiver who could work in different roles”, and “Nate Tandy made plays and finished them successfully.”
While we don’t know what the future has in store for the Rochester Falcons, the 2025 season is proof that the team has shown significant growth and Juniors will continue to carry on Seniors’ legacy.
