Clarence House announced a royal engagement between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Monday, Nov. 27 . The recently engaged couple received many warmhearted responses from family and the public. The couple plan to marry in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.

“Markle, who is an American actress, will also become a British citizen and will be baptized and confirmed into the Church of England before the wedding,” announced Kensington Palace.

Markle also decided to retire from her acting career and not return to the television series “Suits” for its eighth season. Instead, she will be part of the royal family, also working with organizations within the community, too. The couple shared details about their early romance and engagement during an interview with the BBC.

“I think that they are a really cute couple and it’s interesting to see a royal wedding, since royal weddings don’t take place anymore,” said sophomore Jaszmyn Chambers.

Following the announcement of their engagement, Markle was photographed with her engagement ring, which Prince Harry designed himself, consisting of two diamonds from late Princess Diana’s jewelry collection and the main stone from Botswana. During the BBC interview, Markle stated that they were having a typical night and trying to roast chicken while Prince Harry just got on one knee and proposed.

“It was just an amazing surprise, It was so sweet and natural and very romantic, he got on one knee,” Markle said.
