In a year of uncertainty and cancellations, the class of 2021 is finally getting the celebratory events they deserve.
After months of planning, administrators have figured out a safe and relatively normal way to celebrate these important occasions.
Honor convocation was held on Monday, May 10 on the football field at 6:30 p.m. At this ceremony, seniors who achieved honors qualifications were awarded, all the while maintaining social distancing and Covid safety precautions.
“I’m happy I was able to gather with my family and friends to celebrate my achievements the past four years,” senior Mariam Hanna said.
Seniors’ last day of school was May 14, and the senior walk was held on May 17 at noon. At this event seniors were able to take their final walk around the school and say goodbye to the halls which they have walked for four years.
Additionally, Prom was held on May 20 at the Palazzo Grande at 7 p.m. Masks were required for the entirety of the event, with the exception of dinner.
Seniors will graduate on June 12 at DTE Energy Music Theatre at 7 p.m., and later celebrate at the Senior All Night Party from 11 p.m to 4 a.m.
Having these events while following Covid protocol assures that all attendees remain safe, while also giving seniors their final high school experiences.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating the class of 2021 this year and all of their academic accomplishments,” Mr. DeLuca said via school-wide email.
