“I don’t know any world in which Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce would be in the same room together, but in this one apparently they are married?” was the caption of an aimless Instagram post back in 2020. In the picture, a couple dressed as Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift for Halloween. What then seemed odd and unexplainable at the time, has now turned into reality. What started with a friendship bracelet and a dream, is now an ultimate relationship no one had on their bingo card. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have shook all aspects of the world with their alluring relationship. Though Kelce is different from anyone Swift has ever dated, the invisible string between them spurs the question if Swift’s 13th boyfriend is finally the one. 

It all started back in July when Kelce attended The Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. A few weeks later, Kelce’s time at the concert came up on his podcast “New Heights” that he does alongside his older brother, Jason Kelce. In the episode, Travis expressed the fun time he had there, but more importantly the friendship bracelet he made for Swift with his number on it. Though he was “butthurt” that he didn’t get to meet her or hand it to her after the show. After that was said it didn’t take long for rumors to start swirling. Even the NFL played along implementing their own hidden quotes. “It was a little bit of a Cruel Summer for Travis Kelce with that knee injury but he can see the Daylight ” Said ESPN reporter Adam Schefter. “Clearly, Travis Kelce, at this point in time, is trying to Shake It Off and get back out there. He knows how much he’s needed and that he’s The Man.” After a few weeks of letting the rumors swirl, Kelce had an interview on the Pat McAfee Show, saying how he threw the ball in Swift’s court by inviting her to see him play at Arrowhead. “I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead. You might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead ” Said Kelce, not clarifying if they had been together yet. However, it didn’t take long to see them together after that. 

On September 24, Swift and Kelce made their first appearance together as Swift attended her first of many Chiefs games. This threw football fans and swifties, two groups we thought would never collide, for a loop. At the time, it was believed that this was Swift and Kelces first time together in public. Though we now know they had been hanging out together in secret before the first game, even sneaking a first date in there without being caught by the cameras. There was a lot to digest for swifties after that first game. We got to see Swift happily cheering and watching the game alongside Donna Kelce, Travis Kelce’s Mom. Where the two had already seemed to be best friends. Following the game, Swift and Kelce were seen walking out the stadium side by side where Kelce rocked a full blue and white denim outfit inspired by Swift’s 1989 album. The pair then rode away in Travis’ ‘Getaway Car’ ‘ off to an afterparty where they were said to be attached to each other the whole night. After the cascade of craziness that went down, the Kelce’s New Heights Podcast reached an all time high of viewers on their following episode, with swifties hoping for a mention of that night. With some nudging from Jason, Travis expressed the great night he had, and gave thanks to Swift for coming out. “I’m enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend.”

After the first game, Swift must have enjoyed the football atmosphere as she has now been to six Chiefs games. It’s been fun seeing their relationship grow inside the stadium, but we also got to see the two take on Saturday Night Live in NYC. Kelce got to be a part of a skit about the NFL and swifties, while Swift got to announce Ice Spice as the musical guest for the night. After the show the two went to the SNL afterparty at Catch Steak, where they were photographed holding hands in public for the first time. The whole night they were said to be connected throughout the night, and super comfortable with each other. Shortly before the two took on SNL, Swift had a special event of her own. The day before she attended her 3rd Chiefs game, Swift attended her Eras Tour film premier in Los Angeles. The movie ended up grossing $249.6 million dollars worldwide, and just broke the Guinness world record for highest grossing concert or preformance film of all time. If that wasn’t enough the movie also just earned a Golden Globe nomination for biggest box office achievement, alongside some of the biggest movies of the year like Barbie and Oppenhiemer. 

The love and support between the two have shown a lot, they are said to be very proud of each other and take any chance to support each other. Swift has certainly done her part with her appearances at chiefs games, though Kelce has made sure to show his support as well. During the Chiefs bye week, Kelce took a trip “south of the equator” as he said in his podcast to attend a show of Swifts International leg of the Eras Tour in Brazil. The morning Kelce arrived in Rio De Janeiro, night 2 of the show unfortunately got postponed due to poor weather conditions. So instead, the two were seen dining in a restaurant with Scott Swift, Swifts father, as a third wheel along side of them. Scott, a long time Eagles fan, was even seen wearing a Chiefs lanyard. The next day Swift was able to continue her tour with her man in attendance. Kelce going from a innocent watcher in his suite at Arrowhead just a few months prior, to being in the VIP tent eating a bag of chips and noticeably enjoying the show. Swift as always performed spectacularly, and even made it a little extra special with Kelce in attendance. Throughout the show, Swift would give a glance or point to Kelce in the tent, including pointing at him during willow while singing the line “that’s my man”. Swift even went as far as changing a lyric in the final song of the show Karma, from Karma is the guy on the screen, to Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me. The audience went wild and Kelce was recorded with his surprised and adored reaction as well. After the show, Swift ran off stage straight into Kelce’s arms as they shared an affectionate kiss before walking away together. 

Students here at RHS have also been invested into their relationship. “I think the relationship is good for both of them. Taylor is in what appears to be a healthy relationship, and Travis has gained an insane amount of publicity” Said Sophomore Vivian Sesi. “I have high hopes for this relationship considering the circumstances. I’m not one for superstitions but Taylors number is 13, and Travis is her 13th boyfriend. 

Junior Amelia Bohn adds on, “I think they seem really cute together from what I’ve heard, it’s cute seeing clips of Taylor cheering him on at football games. If they stay together a while, that’s great for them but whatever happens, happens.”

Now that Swifts international leg of her tour is over until 2024, fans are excited to see what the couple will be up to together. It didn’t take long for Swift and Kelce to reunite as Swift’s private jet flew straight to Kansas City as soon as the shows were over. A few days after her arrival a moving truck was even seen outside Kelce’s new six million dollar home. Although Swift and Kelce were not able to spend thanksgiving together due to the Eras Tour, it is expected we get to see them around the holidays spending time together. The couples relationship has said to be quickly turning more serious with the two planning to be there for each other whenever possible. We have already seen lots of cute and loving pictures, and fans can’t wait for more. supposably all it takes is a friendship bracelet and a dream to make a magical relationship.
