This past weekend the Rochester Alliance of Theatrical Alliance (R.A.T.S.) participated in the 16th annual Mid-Michigan Theatre Arts Festival, known to them as “Love Fest” to celebrate their love for theatre at Garber High School in Essexville, Mich.
“Fourteen schools from across the state each prepare a one-act play for festival,” R.A.T.S. sponsor Mr. Frank Gollon said. “Our production is ‘The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.’ Each school has a 65 minute block of time to set the stage, present the play, and then clear the stage.”
A lot of the R.A.T.S. members look forward to this event all year and encourage new students with a love for theatre to join them too as well.
“No competition, just celebrating the theatre,” junior Jono Mammel said.
Mr. Gollon agrees the festival is about the love for theatre and not competition.
“It is referred to as Love Fest by the participants because it is a true celebration of theatre arts without the stress of a competition,” Mr. Gollon said.
