The Clothes Closet is a cherished community addition set up by the Rochester Area Neighborhood House, providing gently used clothes at marked down, affordable prices. It is organized by gender, age group and style.
Last week, RHS volunteers stepped in to help the Clothes Closet move its racks and boxes for a floor waxing and cleaning. For the autumn season, newer clothes and trends had swept the racks.
“The Clothes Closet has been around for a long time,” executive director Ms. Linda Riggs said. “It had not been cleaned in years, and the cleaning combined with the new organization really transformed it.”
The RHS volunteers had worked for hours to prepare the “Closet” for customers.
“I have been a frequent buyer, and I am really looking forward to the new and improved look,” one customer commented.
However, the work does not stop here. The Clothes Closet is just a part of the Rochester Neighborhood House effort. Not only does the community organization head Clothes Closet, it includes Food Pantry, THAW, school supply collection, and many more charitable endeavors.
The Clothes Closet continues to need students’ help every Saturday from 10 am – 2pm. If any students are interested in volunteering or joining the Rochester Neighborhood House Youth Committee, please contact the Neighborhood House at 248-651-5836!
