The “brown jug” trophy will be returning to Rochester, as the Falcon football team improves their record to 2-0 after an impressive 41-16 win over the Avondale Yellow Jackets. Quarterback Alex Bueno once again led the offense, as he threw for three touchdowns, and rushed for an additional touchdown. The offense was also supported by outstanding performances from senior running back Andrew Koss, who rushed for two touchdowns, and junior wide receiver Preston Schroyer, who caught two touchdown passes, and had 111 yards. The Falcon defense played an all around great game, and was led by Senior Kavan Troy, and Junior Cam Czerwien.

The Falcons came into this game with great practices the week leading up to the matchup, which helped them secure the win.

“I thought our team took their preparation very seriously,” offensive coordinator Steven Fox said. “We had a great week of practice, and the players were able to execute their jobs at a high level.”

This win gives the falcons a huge boost going forward in the season, as they are beginning to realize their potential.

“This was a big win because we are gaining confidence and starting to realize that we are a good team that can beat anybody,” junior Preston Schroyer said.

The Avondale squad had several good athletes, however Rochester was able to combat that with their depth according to Coach Fox.

I thought we responded very well to how big and athletic they were,” Coach Fox said. “We were able to use our depth and pace to wear them down, which was a big advantage with how hot it was.”

The Falcons look to remain unbeaten this Friday, as they take on the undefeated Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks at home. You can catch the game at 7 p.m. streamed live on the “Good Morning Rochester” YouTube page.
