8 Quick, Tasty Mug Recipes
September 10, 2020
These eight recipes are great if you are in a rush or just not the best cook! All you’ll need are the bolded ingredients, a mug, and a microwave.
breakfast
French Toast:
- Choose a mug. Any mug. Perhaps your favorite mug, your cutest mug, your funniest mug, your most sophisticated mug, or the only mug you can find.
- In said mug, whisk together 1 egg, ½ cup milk, 1 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar, ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon. Or you can put more sugar and cinnamon. It’s all up to you!
- Slice up 1 slice of bread (it can be white, wheat, cinnamon, none of the above, maybe a mixture?) into cubes, and toss the pieces into your mug. Make sure they’re all covered and not just sitting at the top. These are varsity divers, not just ordinary folk.
- Microwave for 2 minutes, and voila- french toast for one! Top it off with maple syrup or your favorite toppings, and go enjoy your culinary masterpiece!
Scrambled Eggs:
- Find a mug. Can’t find one? Look in the dishwasher. Still can’t find one? Check, the collection in your bedroom. Please wash it out first.
- Spray your mug with non-stick cooking spray.
- Crack 3 eggs into your mug, and whisk them with 2 tablespoons of milk– water works, too- and whatever vegetables your heart desires. Don’t forget to season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Put your mixture into the microwave for 40 seconds at a time, stirring in between intervals, until your eggs are ready.
- Yay! You’re done!
lunch/ dinner
Mac & Cheese:
- You’ll need a mug.
- Put ¾ cup water into the mug along with ⅓ cup macaroni. Microwave that for about 4-5 minutes. I recommend doing that in 1 minute intervals because the water likes to rise and spill out of the mug if you leave it in the microwave for a few minutes straight.
- If there’s any water left, pour it all down the drain.
- Stir in 4 tablespoons milk, 4 tablespoons cheddar cheese, and salt and pepper.
- Heat it up for another minute or two, and stir it one last time (I promise) to make sure everything is well incorporated.
- Bon appetite!
Chile:
- You know the drill by now. Get. A. Mug.
- Dump in 3 tablespoons of beans, 3 tablespoons of corn, 3 tablespoons of chopped carrots, 1 tablespoon of chopped onion, 6 tablespoons of tomato sauce, ½ teaspoon cumin, and ½ teaspoon chili powder. Stir it all together.
*notes, many notes: I highly recommend black beans, but whatever floats your boat. But since I’m a pinto bean lover and I’m suggesting black beans, just use black beans. If you don’t have corn, omit it. I had to because I have a corn addiction, so corn doesn’t last long in my house. You can use shredded carrots if that’s all you have. Also, you can use crushed tomato or tomato sauce- I used spaghetti sauce and it turned out great.
3. Microwave for 2-2 ½ minutes just to heat everything up, and enjoy! Chili’s will be losing some customers soon.
Fettuccine Alfredo:
- Choose a mug! conseguir una taza! obtenir une tasse! !拿個杯子 !اختر قدح
- Put ⅓ cup fettuccine into said mug with ⅓ cup water and some salt.
- Cook for 4 minutes in the microwave. Stir. Cook for 2 minutes. Stir. Cook for 1 minute. Stir. Notice a pattern?
- Stir in ⅓ parmesan cheese and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream or milk, and microwave for yet another 45 seconds.
- Garnish with black pepper because you’re fancy, and pretend you are at Olive Garden. Buon Appetito!
dessert
Apple Crisp:
- Locate a (clean) mug.
- In a bowl, add 1 apple, peeled and sliced thinly, and coat with ½ tablespoons of melted butter, 1 teaspoon of flour, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, and ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon.
- In a different bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of flour, 3 tablespoons of old fashioned oats, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Using a fork, work 2 tablespoons of softened butter in.
- Here is where your mug comes in! Layer the apple filling and the cinnamon topping starting with the filling and ending with the topping.
- Pop that in the microwave for 3 minutes.
- Eat while warm with some whipped cream or ice cream!
Chocolate Lava Cake:
- Choose a mug wisely- it will also act as your mixing bowl!
- In the mug, whisk together ¼ cup of flour, ¼ cup of granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, ½ teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Melt 3 tablespoons of butter, and add it in along with 3 tablespoons of milk, 1 egg, and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix that together real well.
- Now for the best part- place 1 ounce of chocolate chips in the center of the mixture. Cover that with 1 teaspoon of water.
- Microwave for about 2 minutes, and voila! Yes, you can have your cake and eat it, too!
Coconut Cake:
- Walk over to your collection of mugs and pick one to make this treat in!
- In it, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the microwave.
- Whisk in ¼ cup of flour, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of shredded coconut, ¼ cup of milk, a ¼ teaspoon of baking powder, and a ½ teaspoon of coconut extract.
- Cook in the microwave for around 2 minutes, and you’re done! Let it cool, and top with a creamy addition of your choice.
