This year marks the first annual Friends of the Falcons Gala at River Crest Banquet Hall hosted by the Rochester Athletic Boosters to have a “snappy casual” festive evening May 30 to raise funds to support Athletic Boosters, which in turn uses the funds for athletic expenses like Falcon teams and athletes. The evening will include a strolling hors d’oeuvres reception, refreshments, live and silent auctions, raffles and music by Chris Cendana, a good friend of athletic director Luke Beach.
“This event and the money made off of the event will directly impact the needs of our student-athletes,” Mr. Beach said. “It is the goal of the Athletic Boosters to be monetarily viable so that our athletic teams will only have to do limited fundraising.”
Mrs. Sally Anglim, the event planner has demonstrated a passion for the district, its students and its programs through numerous experiences in planning events such as Stoney Creek’s 10th Anniversary Celebration in March of 2011 and the Ball Drop for Stoney Creek last spring which raised a significant amount of funds for Athletics, Music, Clubs and Activities at Stoney Creek High School. Now, she hopes to accomplish the same for Rochester High School Athletic Boosters by reaching out to families to support the club through the fundraiser.
“All adults in the community who would like to celebrate and support the Rochester High School Falcons are invited to attend,” Mrs. Anglim said. “We have extended our invitation through school messenger to all RHS families as well as the families of future Falcons at Reuther and West Middle Schools.”
The goal of the event is to raise funds to support the Athletic Boosters in order to fund the different athletic programs, but also on a larger scale to create a good impression of the event to its attendees in hope to make Friends of the Falcons Gala an annual event.
“For me, the planning is as much fun as the event itself,” Mrs. Anglim said. “I look forward to raising funds that will benefit students at Rochester High School and hope that this will be an event that the Falcon friends enjoy and want to repeat future years.”
