As you drive by the corner of Main Street and Second Street in Downtown Rochester, you’ll notice that the Cupcake Station is no longer where it used to be.
In fact, it has been enhanced: The shop, called Bakehouse 46, is now a joint collaboration between the Cupcake Station and Blake’s Farm, located in Armada, Mich.
After a successful opening in Birmingham, the second location of Bakehouse 46 recently opened, right in Downtown Rochester where the old Cupcake Station was. In addition to the two stores already open, they are planned to set up in two more cities.
“We are currently under construction in Ann Arbor and Ferndale,” Chelsea from Bakehouse 46 said.
The transition of the Cupcake Station locations into Bakehouse 46 took place in 2020. The Cupcake Station was founded in 2006, being the first cupcake shop in Michigan, and one of the first in the country. Baking over 20 types of cupcakes, one of their best sellers, the Bump-a-licious, made it on the national news.
Blake Farms, established in 1946 in Armada, Mich., is spread across over 100 acres of land, with farms, orchards, and a cider mill. They grow over 40 different types of apples, and a wide variety of other crops, such as strawberries and lavenders. This collaboration allows you to experience both of the locations all in one.
“We make from scratch gourmet Cupcakes and allow access to your favorite Cider Mill goods,” Chelsea said.
Their breakfast and lunch pastries include bagels and sammies, along with coffee. The bakehouse bagel sandwiches come in a wide variety of choices, and they also have a brunch kit, which contains an assortment of bagels, cupcakes, cream cheese, house brewed coffee, and travel mugs.
Their unique cupcakes come in both mini and regular sizes. There are over 20 different types of cupcakes to choose from, and you can mix and match to make your own pack.
The Blake’s Farm menu is available all year round, which includes the cider mill donuts, apple cider, and caramel apples. They also sell jams and maple syrup from Blake’s. In addition, they have three special gourmet donuts that are very unique and divine. And lastly, they have extra sweet treats, with cookies, brownies, caramel bars, cheesecakes, and a treat specially made for dogs, pupcakes. This massive variety of treats always welcomes customers back again.
You can also experience Bakehouse 46 at your own home by purchasing one of the take home kits. The kit contains cupcakes, buttercream frosting, and festive sprinkles, which you can bring and decorate right inside your kitchen.
So on your next drive through Downtown Rochester or Birmingham, stop by Bakehouse 46 and experience the combination of the Cupcake Station and Blake’s Farm.
