When athletic trainer Crystal Cavin moved to another state for a job opportunity, athletic director Mr. Luke Beach began the search for her replacement and found that in the form of Jim Niemi.

“We really liked his professionalism and personality,” Mr. Beach said. “We thought he would be a really good choice with our student athletes. I plan to bring a positive and youthful attitude to Rochester High.”

Mr. Niemi has enjoyed getting acclimated to RHS, he said.

“So far [working here] has been a new and exciting experience,” Mr. Niemi said. “Everyone has been very helpful and I look forward to servicing those as RHS.”

Mr. Beach has noticed the enthusiasm that Mr. Niemi brings to the student athletes.

“He is very enthusiastic and he is very organized,” Mr. Beach said.

Students seem to like working with him too, according to cross country runner and sophomore Alexa Ligon.

“He’s very nice,” Ligon said. “He seems to be happy working here and makes the training room a comfortable place to be in.”

Mr. Niemi has been a trainer for one year before coming to RHS, and he says he’s psyched to be here.

“So far it has been a new and exciting experience,” Mr. Niemi said. “I have worked with various high school sports in the Midland Area and Sault Ste. Marie. I have also have experience working at Evergreen Physical Therapy in Midland through my internship.”

Mr. Beach thinks he is going to be a good fit for the Falcon family.

“I’m hoping for Jim to bring consistency and a lot of enthusiasm,” Mr. Beach said.

Ligon continues about her experiences with Mr. Neimi so far.

“Everyday, Jim is very helpful,” Ligon said. “He tries new and different techniques everyday to make sure each student feels comfortable as possible.”
